Because it has only been online for only a little while, Twitter has had its share of glitches and bugs. One of the biggest issues Twitter has faced is account handling. In the beginning, Twitter was just not prepared for the large number of new users flooding in to register. And, there was several times Twitter had major security issues, causing many new members to leave the website within a month. These are the top reasons that Twitter got a bad rap in the press when they first started out. It increased in popularity from day one, but for negative reasons. Twitter has certainly come a long way in the past several years.

And, you will not believe some of the famous people who use Twitter. In 2007, the Los Angeles Fire Department made use of Twitter to update the public about the devastating California wildfires. Sometimes, NASA even uses Twitter to update about certain projects. Then, there is the United States President, Barack Obama. Everyone is familiar about his election campaign tweeting. Lastly, the Israel government used Twitter to hold press conferences and participate in the question and answer time regarding the ongoing fight against Hamas, Gaza.
